DISTRICT ATTORNEY FILES GANG INJUNCTION TARGETING EAST SIDE GANGSTERS

San Antonio: July 29, 2008: Today District Attorney Susan D. Reed filed a Gang Injunction petition requesting a Temporary Restraining Order (TRO) and a Temporary and Permanent Injunction creating a new safety zone. The area will be called the “East Side Safety Zone.” The petition alleges that the 19 named defendants, ranging in age from 18 to 41 years old, are members of the East Terrace Gangsters and have regularly associated to commit crimes, including weapons and narcotics offenses, thus creating a public nuisance. District Judge Andy Mireles granted the District Attorney’s request for a Temporary Restraining Order. A hearing on the Temporary Injunction is scheduled for August 11, 2008 at 8:30 a.m. in the 73rd District Court.

The safety zone is bordered on the North by East Commerce Street, on the West by Aurelia and Hampton Streets, on the South by Roland Avenue, and on the East by Pecan Valley Drive, Brooksdale Drive and Dafoste.
