SATURDAY, APRIL 18TH
KIDS DAY IN THE PARK
This picnic held for families and children age 10 and under to heighten the awareness of the prevention of child abuse, is sponsored by the United Way, the Blue Ribbon Task Force, and the San Antonio Association for Education of Young Children and will be held in San Pedro Park from 10:00 am-4:00 pm.
TUESDAY, APRIL 21ST
PROCLAMATION OF NATIONAL CRIME VICTIMS’ RIGHTS WEEK BY BEXAR COUNTY COMMISSIONERS COURT
The public, crime victims and victim service organizations are invited to attend Commissioners Court meeting during which National Crime Victims’ Rights Week will be proclaimed.  The proclamation will be held in the Bexar County Courthouse, Commissioners Courtroom at 11:00 a.m.
FRIDAY, APRIL 24TH
Project TEACH
As part of Child Abuse Prevention Month, ChildSafe presents education on abuse and childhood healing – “Abusive Head Trauma for Non-Medical Professionals” from 11:30am – 1:15pm at ChildSafe located at 7130 W. SATURDAY, APRIL 25TH
PICNIC IN THE PARK
A community picnic will be held at the Mission County Park, Pavilion #1 from 12:00 noon – 4:00 pm,  to ‘Blow the Whistle on Child Abuse’ in San Antonio. The picnic will be hosted by Bikers Against Child Abuse (BACA).  All are invited to attend the picnic and enjoy live music, delicious food and a day of family fun in the park.

SUNDAY, APRIL 26TH
     WOMEN’S SELF DEFENSE:  FIGHT LIKE A GIRL!
     Family Violence Prevention Services is sponsoring a class on self defense for women.  The session will be held from 1 – 3 pm at the Women’s Super Fitness located at 7018 Bandera Road.  Please register by April 22nd by visiting www.prwselfdefense.com or calling Rae Mann at (210) 519-8919 or (210) 684-2267.  Cost of class is $15.

Victims may call 351-1363 at KSAT-TV from 12:00 noon to 7:00 p.m. for information concerning the criminal justice system and referrals for victim services.

TUESDAY, APRIL 28TH
ADVOCACY WORKSHOP
The Rape Crisis Center for Children and Adults and the Texas Advocacy Project will co-sponsor a workshop entitled “Increasing Access to Justice: Advocating for the Gay, Lesbian, Bisexual & Transgendered Victim of Crime”.  The workshop will be held from 8:30 am – 4:30 pm  at the San Antonio Council on Alcohol & Drug Abuse, South Texas Center, 7500 US Highway 90 West, AT&T Bldg.  Cost is $10.00 for 6.0 CE Credits for LPCs & Social Workers; Register at:  www.rapecrisis.com or call 210-521-7273.

WEDNESDAY, APRIL 29TH
CHRISTUS SANTA ROSA SEXUAL ASSAULT AWARENESS & CHILD ABUSE PREVENTION HEALTH FAIR
This 7th Annual health fair will be held in the cafeteria hallway from 11:00 am until 2:00 pm to educate the community, prevent child abuse and promote sexual assault awareness.
BEXAR COUNTY’S IMMIGRANT COMMUNITY AND FAMILY VIOLENCE
The Mexican Consulate, the Mexican American Catholic College and the PEACE Initiative will co-sponsor a conference focused on how family violence affects our immigrant community.  The conference is free of charge and will be held at the San Juan Diego meeting space at the Mexican American Catholic College located at 3115 W. Ashby from 5:30-8:30 pm. Refreshments will be served and child care is available.
SAN ANTONIO CITY ATTORNEY’S OFFICE – FAMILY VIOLENCE INFORMATION SESSION
This informational session is ideal for complainants in Municipal Court family violence cases and anyone else seeking information on the prosecution of these types of cases.  Session will be held at the Frank Wing Municipal Court Building, 401 S. Frio, 2nd Floor, from 6:00 pm – 8:00 pm.  Free child care and parking provided.  (employee parking lot)

THURSDAY, APRIL 30TH
VICTIMS’ TRIBUTE
The public, crime victims and victim service organizations are invited to attend a special service dedicated to victims of crime which will include a memorial wreath blessing and laying ceremony and lighting of our victims’ flame.  The event will be held at the San Antonio Police Academy, 12200 SE Loop 410 from 10:00 am to 12:00 noon.   Free parking is available.
VOLUNTEER APPRECIATION
The Family Justice Center is hosting a party for the San Antonio Police Department F.A.C.T. Volunteers to thank them for their contributions as part of the team that helps turn domestic violence survivors into thrivers.  The party will be held at the FJC beginning at 2:30pm.

FRIDAY, MAY 1ST
CHILDREN’S PICNIC
A picnic honoring victims of crime, particularly children, will be held from 11:30 a.m. to 2:00 p.m., in Milam Park.  Everyone is invited to join the festivities, which will include games, clowns, face painting, pony rides, petting zoo, a visit from the Spurs Coyote, McGruff the Crime Fighting Dog, BACA, and others.  Lunch will be served.
