SCHOOL BUS DRIVER INDICTED FOR INDECENCY WITH A CHILD

San Antonio, Texas: June 10, 2009:

District Attorney Susan D. Reed today obtained an indictment against Manuel Garcia III, 63, a former school bus driver for the Northside Independent School District. The Grand Jury returned an indictment alleging three counts of Indecency with a Child.

The allegations arise out of three incidents that occurred on a school bus in February of this year when Garcia was allegedly transporting a 9 year old special needs child. A camera on the bus allegedly captured Garcia pressing the female student’s hand to his groin in addition to other allegations of sexual misconduct. Garcia was terminated by NISD after these allegations surfaced.

Indecency with a Child is 2nd degree felony which carries a range of punishment of 2 years to 20 years confinement in the Texas Department of Corrections and up to a $10,000.00 fine.
