BLANTON’S EXECUTION DATE SET

San Antonio, Texas: July 16, 2009:

The District Attorney’s Office has obtained an execution date for Capital Murderer Reginald Blanton, age 28. On July 14, 2009, the Honorable Juanita Vasquez-Gardner, Judge of the 399th Judicial District Court, signed the Order Setting Execution Date for Reginald Blanton. The date of execution is October 27, 2009.

Reginald Blanton was convicted of Capital Murder of Carlos Garza which occurred on April 4 2000. The evidence proved that Blanton broke into Garza’s apartment, shot him in the head and stole jewelry that was later discovered at a nearby pawn shop. Habeas corpus relief was denied in the 5th Circuit and the Supreme Court denied the writ of certiorari on May 18, 2009.
