TRIAL OF JOE ESTRADA BEGINS MONDAY

San Antonio, Texas: February 5, 2010

This is a case status update for your information in relation to the State of Texas v. Joe Estrada. A jury of ten women and two men has been seated as well as two alternate jurors. The trial is set to begin at 9:00 a.m. Monday, February 8, 2010, on the third floor of the Victoria County Courthouse Annex.

Regarding cameras in the courtroom, we have been informed by the Victoria County Sheriff's Office that the trial judge, Judge Alcala, intends to permit a "pool" camera in the courtroom that will serve as a live feed to other cameras. It is our understanding that this is a tentative plan. The decision to permit cameras in the courtroom rests solely with the trial judge.
