FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
BEXAR COUNTY FAMILY JUSTICE CENTER & THE 10TH ANNUAL INTERNATIONAL FAMILY JUSTICE CENTER CONFERENCE
San Antonio, Texas: April 26, 2010
Spotlighting the programs, partnerships, and accomplishments of the Bexar County Family Justice Center and its service to over 17,000 families plagued with domestic violence since opening in August 2005, the National Family Justice Center Alliance has chosen San Antonio to host its annual International Family Justice Center Conference April 27-29, 2010. This week, over four hundred people from across the country will gather at the Crown Plaza Hotel Riverwalk to visit and tour the Bexar County Family Justice Center and learn from other national experts how they can stop domestic violence in their communities.
The Bexar County Family Justice Center opened under the President’s Family Justice Center Initiative Grant and the support of Bexar County District Attorney, Susan D. Reed. Still the only domestic violence center of its kind in the state of Texas, it is located in the University Health Center Downtown. The Bexar County Family Justice Center is a collaboration of over forty community partners who collectively provide wrap around services to victims of domestic violence and their families under one roof. In addition to the thousands of victims the Center has served, it also has provided educational outreach to over 31,000 people in the San Antonio community.
To hear more about the innovative programming occurring at the Bexar County Family Justice Center and other Family Justice Centers around the world, please join Bexar County District Attorney Susan Reed at Opening Ceremonies of the Conference Tuesday, April 27, 2010, 9:00 AM at the Crown Plaza Plaza Riverwalk Hotel, 111 Pecan Street East, San Antonio, Texas 78205.
