District Attorney Susan D. Reed, announced that Sandra Briggs, age 58, was indicted by a Bexar County Grand Jury on one count of Intoxication Manslaughter against a Police Officer and one count of Intoxication Assault.

The traffic collision occurred on October 14, 2010, at 2:41 a.m., in the 7500 block of N.W. Loop 410 at W. Military Drive. San Antonio Police Officer Sergio Antillon had stopped to assist a motorist whose pickup truck previously struck a concrete highway divider and was partially blocking the first lane of travel. Mr. Araguz suffered serious bodily injury and Officer Antillon was rushed to the hospital where he later died. Officer Antillon had been a member of the San Antonio Police Department for less than one year.

Sandra Briggs is charged with Intoxication Manslaughter against a Police Officer which is a 1st degree felony, carrying a range of punishment of 5 to 99 years or life in the Texas Department of Corrections and up to a $10,000 fine, and Intoxication Assault which is a 3rd degree felony, carrying a range of punishment of 2 to 10 years in the Texas Department of Corrections and up to a $10,000 fine.
