CAPITAL MURDER INDICTMENT ISSUED IN CASE OF SLAIN BEXAR COUNTY DEPUTY

San Antonio, Texas: June 23, 2011

San Antonio, Texas: This morning District Attorney Susan D. Reed presented and obtained an indictment against Mark Anthony Gonzalez, age 41, for the Capital Murder of Bexar County Sheriff’s Deputy Sgt. Kenneth Vann.

The charge of Capital Murder carries a punishment of either Life without Parole or the death sentence, as determined by a jury.

Yesterday, after a hearing, a Bexar County Magistrate refused to lower Gonzalez’ bond. He is in jail with bail set at $1.5 million.

This case is pending in the 175th District Court before the honorable Judge Mary Roman. A trial date has not been set.
